The Lumber Heritage Region (LHR) proudly supports projects that celebrate and enhance our region’s rich history, vibrant culture, outdoor recreation, and conservation efforts. Our grant programs focus on projects where these themes intersect, fostering initiatives that make a lasting impact across our communities.
Funded through the Pennsylvania Heritage Areas Program Fund and administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, our mini-grants are designed to bring innovative ideas to life.
PLEASE NOTE – Mini Grant Projects should be able to be completed in 12 months or LESS.

All projects must be located within the LHR boundaries, which span 15 counties. If applying from Indiana, Cambria, or Clarion Counties, contact us to confirm eligibility.

Restrictions:
LHR Mini Grants may not be used as match for other DCNR-funded projects.
LHR Mini Grant funds must be applied to direct, project-based expenses only and may not be used for administrative or overhead costs.

DuBois Area Historical Society installed an interpretive panel honoring lumber heritage in the region and the legacy of Sidney Fuller. Read more
Mini-Grants
Austin Dam Memorial Association developed and placed an interpretive panel highlighting the local Kindling Factory. An additional panel was designed highlighting the nearby Bark Shanty CCC camp as the Association works to connect these sites and stories, keeping history alive. Read more
Lycoming County
Muncy Heritage Park enhanced outdoor recreation access and opportunities along their interpretive path with ADA accessible picnic tables. Read more

The McKean County Historical Society completes another phase of restoration to the Prospect Hill Fire Tower, which is now accessible and open to the public in Smethport, PA. Read more
