Graves Maple Products is the embodiment of a centuries-long American legacy that began in 1635, when John Graves journeyed from England to settle in Concord, Massachusetts. Over the generations, the Graves family endured and contributed through pivotal moments in history—from early colonial conflicts to the Revolutionary War and the great westward migration—eventually establishing deep roots in Potter County, Pennsylvania.

It was here, in the late 1800s, that Roy Albert Graves and his wife Cora Seely began tapping maple trees on the family farm, collecting sap with buckets and oxen, and boiling it over open fires to make syrup for their household. This humble, seasonal practice of self-sufficiency evolved into a treasured family tradition. In 1930, Nelson Graves purchased the present-day family farm, maintaining the maple-making heritage with horses and buckets, forging a legacy of hard work and resilience. The operation saw major modernization under Nelson’s son Bob during the 1970s and ’80s, as he introduced wood-fired evaporators and expanded the tap count to more than 1,000.

By the late 1990s, Bob’s son Joe and his wife Brandy returned to the land, continuing the tradition while raising the next generation amid the same rolling hills and sugar maples. In 2022, Graves Maple Products became an official LLC—a family partnership between Joe and Brandy and Bob and Barb—and launched its most ambitious expansion yet.

Today, with over 7,000 taps on the family farm and a leased woodlot, the Graves family produces handcrafted, high-quality maple syrup and products with unmatched care and dedication. Maple isn’t just a seasonal venture for the Graves family—it’s a year-round expression of love for the land, for craftsmanship, and for family legacy.
