Lycoming County Unveils Four New Brochures Thanks to $5,000 Mini Grant

Williamsport, PA – May 13, 2024 – The Lumber Heritage Region is excited to announce the award of a $5,000 mini grant to the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau, supporting the creation of four new brochures that spotlight the rich heritage and attractions of Lycoming County.

The grant has facilitated the production of four unique brochures, each providing fresh perspectives on the cultural and historical wealth of the region. These brochures are part of the ongoing mission to enhance tourism and preserve the legacy of Lycoming County.

Brochures Created with the Grant:

  1. Millionaire’s Row Walking Guide: This guide offers an immersive journey into the opulent history of Millionaire’s Row, featuring the grand historic homes and landmarks. The Pennsylvania College of Technology Graphic Arts Department played a crucial role in ensuring the guide is both visually captivating and informative.
  2. Ghost Tour Brochure: Explore the eerie legends and haunted history of Lycoming County with the Ghost Tour Brochure. Developed in collaboration with Lycoming College, this brochure promises a thrilling adventure through local supernatural tales.
  3. Bases Loaded Map: Celebrating the Little League World Series, the Bases Loaded Map provides a detailed guide to the iconic statues throughout the county. Visitors can delve into the history and significance of these statues, enriching their experience of America’s favorite pastime.
  4. Antiquing Brochure: Antique enthusiasts will love the Antiquing Brochure, which offers a curated selection of antique shops and markets across Lycoming County. Discover hidden gems and unique finds while exploring the area’s rich heritage.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Lumber Heritage Region for their support in making these projects a reality,” said Gina Edwards, Tourism & Group Tour Director. “These brochures not only highlight our region’s diverse attractions but also showcase the collaborative spirit of our community partners and institutions.”

The brochures are now available to the public and can be obtained from the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau and various tourism outlets across the region.

U.S. Forest Service announces funding opportunity to strengthen forest products economy, forest sector jobs.. This program supports the advancement of outdoor recreation, conservation, trail projects, and programs within the Susquehanna Greenway’s 22 counties: Bradford, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Indiana, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Susquehanna, Union, Wyoming, and York. Projects outside this corridor will not be considered. Eligible applicants include registered non-profit organizations able to apply for DCNR-supported funding and public entities (such as a county, municipality, or municipal agency). Projects must fit within one of these four eligible categories: Outreach & Education Wayfinding & Signage Parks, Land & Water Trails, and Active Transportation Temporary Placemaking Detailed descriptions of these categories are available on the grant landing page at www.susquehannagreenway.org. Funding Details: Up to $10,000 per request 1:1 match required (cash or in-kind) One award per entity (multiple applications may be submitted for consideration) 10-month contract period (January – October 2025) The Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant Program is financed by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. As such, mini-grants may not be used as match for other DCNR-funded projects, and DCNR funding may not be used to match this mini-grant. Awardees must follow all DCNR grant guidelines and acknowledge both SGP and DCNR in all marketing and media. An online information session will be held at 12 noon on October 1, 2025. REGISTER HERE.
