“Forest Her: The Next Wave of Conservation” is a compelling documentary that delves into the vital role of female leadership in forest conservation. Directed, produced, and written by Cheryle Franceschi, this insightful film will air on Sunday at 1 pm on Maryland Public Television and is also available online here.
The documentary takes viewers on a journey through the historical and contemporary contributions of women in scientific forest management. It features perspectives from private forest landowners, professional foresters, citizen foresters, and a pioneering conservation trailblazer. These women are not only planting trees but also sowing seeds of inspiration for a healthier planet, both now and for the future.
“Forest Her: The Next Wave of Conservation” has garnered several accolades, including Best Short Film and Honorable Mention for Director Cheryle Franceschi at the 2022 Utopia Film Festival. The film has also received laurels from the 2023 Maryland International Film Festival and the 2023 Community Stories Film Festival.
