Visit / The Lumber Heritage Maple Trail
Sweet Side Maple LLC, in Morris, Pennsylvania, is a family-owned gem where generations of tradition blend seamlessly with warm hospitality and handcrafted quality. Owned and operated by Wayne Staron, the maple operation continues a family legacy that dates back over 100 years, tapping into the same forested hillsides that have sustained syrup-making for generations. Located at 269 Nauvoo Road, Sweet Side Maple is more than a syrup producer—it’s a place where heritage, community, and a love for the land come together each spring when the sap begins to flow. Wayne and his team oversee every step of the process with care and pride, using traditional wood-fired evaporators and modern efficiency to create pure, flavorful syrup that captures the essence of north-central Pennsylvania’s maple-rich landscape.
What sets Sweet Side Maple apart isn’t just the syrup, but the experience. Each year, they open their doors during Maple Weekend as part of the Potter–Tioga Maple Producers Association’s trail, offering guided tours, live demonstrations, and complimentary samples that turn a visit into a sweet memory. Guests can watch the steam rise from the evaporator, learn how the syrup is made, and taste it fresh off the fire—sometimes even paired with local favorites like maple crème cinnamon rolls through their partnership with nearby S&L Café. The sugarhouse buzzes with the energy of neighbors, travelers, and families gathering to celebrate the season, and Wayne is always happy to share the story behind the syrup, reflecting a genuine passion that pours into every bottle.
With deep local roots and a growing following, Sweet Side Maple stands as a proud example of what happens when tradition is honored and community is embraced. From their small batch products to their welcoming farm tours, the Staron family invites visitors to enjoy not only the fruits of their labor but the spirit of maple making itself—a celebration of nature, family, and the simple sweetness of doing things the right way.
