Established in 2000, the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its volunteers who strive to connect and preserve the rich historical aspects of the Greater Renovo Area. This area, steeped in history from lumbering and coal mining to natural gas exploration and railroading, is celebrated and promoted by the Heritage Park, fostering a sense of pride and unity among its residents.

A Rich Tapestry of Heritage

The Greater Renovo Area encompasses various charming and historically significant locations such as Clinton County, South Renovo, Tamarack, Hammersley Fork, Keating, Shintown, Kettle Creek, Westport, Cross Fork, Hyner, North Bend, Cooks Run, and Gleasonton. These areas offer a glimpse into the past, showcasing the unique culture and heritage that define this region.

The Heart of Heritage

Situated near the west entrance of the Renovo Industrial Park, the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park spans three acres surrounding the historic Coal & Sand Wharf. This site has been meticulously developed to serve as a central hub for preserving and promoting the area’s heritage. With the help of various contributors, including local organizations, businesses, and volunteers, the park continues to grow and evolve, offering a space for education and enjoyment for future generations.

Our Mission

The mission of the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park is clear: to unite, preserve, and promote the history, heritage, culture, and community pride of the Greater Renovo Area. By focusing on heritage tourism and eco-tourism, the park aims to revitalize the local economy, population, and appearance, ensuring that the rich history of the area remains alive and relevant.

Key Contributions and Milestones

Early contributors to the park include the Clinton County Economic Partnership, Community Trade Association, International Paper Company, and many more. Their support has been crucial in the ongoing development of the park’s facilities. Significant donations, such as Gene Summerson’s small store and second-floor apartment at 530/528 Erie Avenue, have helped establish the park’s headquarters and expand its offerings.
