Lycoming County Unveils Four New Brochures Thanks to $5,000 Mini Grant

Williamsport, PA – May 13, 2024 – The Lumber Heritage Region is excited to announce the award of a $5,000 mini grant to the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau, supporting the creation of four new brochures that spotlight the rich heritage and attractions of Lycoming County.

The grant has facilitated the production of four unique brochures, each providing fresh perspectives on the cultural and historical wealth of the region. These brochures are part of the ongoing mission to enhance tourism and preserve the legacy of Lycoming County.

Brochures Created with the Grant:

  1. Millionaire’s Row Walking Guide: This guide offers an immersive journey into the opulent history of Millionaire’s Row, featuring the grand historic homes and landmarks. The Pennsylvania College of Technology Graphic Arts Department played a crucial role in ensuring the guide is both visually captivating and informative.
  2. Ghost Tour Brochure: Explore the eerie legends and haunted history of Lycoming County with the Ghost Tour Brochure. Developed in collaboration with Lycoming College, this brochure promises a thrilling adventure through local supernatural tales.
  3. Bases Loaded Map: Celebrating the Little League World Series, the Bases Loaded Map provides a detailed guide to the iconic statues throughout the county. Visitors can delve into the history and significance of these statues, enriching their experience of America’s favorite pastime.
  4. Antiquing Brochure: Antique enthusiasts will love the Antiquing Brochure, which offers a curated selection of antique shops and markets across Lycoming County. Discover hidden gems and unique finds while exploring the area’s rich heritage.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Lumber Heritage Region for their support in making these projects a reality,” said Gina Edwards, Tourism & Group Tour Director. “These brochures not only highlight our region’s diverse attractions but also showcase the collaborative spirit of our community partners and institutions.”

The brochures are now available to the public and can be obtained from the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau and various tourism outlets across the region.

The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership is dedicated to helping our communities create, remember, and share stories and experiences of the river. To celebrate their upcoming 25th anniversary in service of this goal, they announced the beginning of their latest project: a coffee table book all about the Susquehanna River and the towns, trails, and humans who make it special! If you or someone you know has a story they would like to share, they are accepting submissions on a continual basis for review. They are collecting stories in all mediums. In addition to the coffee table book, selected stories may be shared across social media platforms and newsletters, giving your work a wider audience and adding to the shared narrative of the river’s importance in our community.

Additional Grant Opportunities

PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION & NATURAL RESOURCES (DCNR)

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation assists local governments and recreation and conservation organizations with funding for projects related to: Parks Recreation Conservation Applications for the department’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants are accepted once a year. The application period for the recreation and conservation grants opens in January and closes in April each year: Opens: (Third Tuesday of January) Closes: (First Wednesday of April) There are exceptions for ATV and Snowmobile Trails Management Restricted Account Grants, which are conducted during the spring and fall: Spring: Always opens first business day in February and closes the last business day in March. Fall: Always opens first business day in August and closes the last business day in September. Peer and Circuit Rider Grants are open year-round
