The panel is installed in the municipal park on land donated to the city by the DuBois Family.

Project Details

This project was developed to educate visitors and local residents about the rich history of the lumber industry in DuBois, PA, and its role in shaping the community.

In 1871, John DuBois established his first lumber mill, laying the foundation for what would become the City of DuBois. Over the years, this site produced more than 900 million board feet of lumber, fueling the growth of the region and providing employment for hundreds of lumber workers, mill laborers, and loggers.

Today, this historical marker stands at a key access point within the DuBois community park, where thousands of visitors pass through each year. This panel serves as a reminder of Pennsylvania’s rich timber heritage, offering a glimpse into the economic and industrial impact of the lumber industry on the region.

Whether you’re exploring the park’s recreational trails, historic sites, or scenic outdoor spaces, take a moment to discover the enduring legacy of Pennsylvania’s lumber history and its role in shaping DuBois into the community it is today.
