Things to Do in The LHR / Museums
The Johnstown Flood National Memorial, located in South Fork, Pennsylvania, commemorates the devastating 1889 flood that claimed over 2,200 lives and became one of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history. Managed by the National Park Service, the memorial preserves the remains of the South Fork Dam and offers interpretive exhibits, historical artifacts, and multimedia presentations that recount the tragedy, its causes, and its impact on the Johnstown community. Visitors can explore walking trails, observation areas, and the historic Unger House to gain a deeper understanding of the event and its legacy. The memorial serves as both an educational resource and a poignant tribute to the resilience of the survivors and the memory of those lost. https://www.nps.gov/jofl/index.htm
