The Allegheny River is a major waterway that flows approximately 325 miles through Pennsylvania and New York, playing a vital role in the region’s history, ecology, and economy. Originating in Potter County, Pennsylvania, the river winds through scenic valleys, forests, and small towns before joining the Monongahela River at Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River. The Allegheny is renowned for its recreational opportunities, including kayaking, fishing, and boating, as well as its rich biodiversity, supporting numerous fish and wildlife species. Historically, it served as a key transportation and trade route for Native American tribes and early settlers. Today, the river remains a treasured natural and cultural resource, with parts of it designated as a National Wild and Scenic River. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Allegheny%20River/209186489140447/
