Since 1961, the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) and American Woodcock Society (AWS) have united conservationists to promote the stewardship of forests, wildlife habitats, and a sustainable future for outdoor enthusiasts. Dedicated to improving forest health and creating thriving ecosystems, RGS & AWS play a pivotal role in protecting diverse landscapes that benefit both wildlife and people.
RGS & AWS are committed to conservation-focused initiatives aimed at restoring and maintaining healthy forest habitats. By working with private landowners, government agencies, and community partners, we ensure that forests continue to provide vital homes for species like the ruffed grouse, American woodcock, and other wildlife.
We envision landscapes rich in diverse, functioning forest ecosystems. These habitats not only sustain wildlife but also provide opportunities for people to connect with nature through hunting, hiking, and wildlife observation.
Why RGS & AWS?
-Wildlife Habitat Improvement: Focused on developing and restoring forests for wildlife species that rely on early successional habitats.
-Forest Health Advocacy: Championing forest management practices that balance conservation with human recreation.
-Conservation Partnerships: Collaborating with landowners, foresters, and policymakers to promote sustainable land use.
-Community Engagement: Hosting educational programs, events, and volunteer opportunities to inspire the next generation of conservationists.
By supporting RGS & AWS, you contribute to the future of America’s forests and the wildlife they sustain. Together, we can ensure that these natural treasures continue to thrive for generations to come.
