The Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS), established in 1967 and incorporated in 1971, is a non-profit organization recognized by the Jefferson County Commissioners as the official historical society for the county. Dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, the JCHS offers engaging exhibits, educational programs, and publications that bring the past to life for residents and visitors alike.

Historic Building: In 2001, the Society began preserving the Nathan Greene Edelblute Building, transforming it into the Jefferson County History Center. The Center officially opened on the county’s 200th anniversary on March 26, 2004, showcasing its commitment to preserving local heritage.

50 Years of Preservation: In 2017, the Society celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking decades of dedication to local history and community engagement.
