The Forest County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and sharing the vibrant history of Forest County, Pennsylvania. Established in 1977, this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization safeguards artifacts, documents, and stories that reflect the county’s past, ensuring they are accessible to today’s residents, visitors, and future generations.
Our Mission:
-Preserve History: Collect and protect historical artifacts, documents, and stories that define Forest County.
-Engage and Educate: Offer engaging exhibits, research opportunities, and events that bring history to life.
-Genealogy and Research: Assist visitors and residents in tracing their family roots and uncovering local history.
Located in the heart of Forest County, the History Center is a treasure trove of historical exhibits and resources:
-Exhibits: Discover displays showcasing the county’s heritage, from its industries to its communities.
-Research and Genealogy Archives: Dive into historical records to uncover your family tree or local connections.
-Events and Programs: Enjoy lectures, demonstrations, and family-friendly activities designed to educate and entertain.
Hours of Operation:
Memorial Day to Labor Day:
-Tuesday: 12 PM – 8 PM (Lecture Series at 7 PM)
-Wednesday – Saturday: 12 PM – 4 PM
Fall Hours (September & October):
-Fridays and Saturdays, 12 PM – 4 PM
Closed for the winter season.
