The Curwensville-Pike Historical Society, founded in 1978 through the vision of a local 14-year-old and the leadership of the late William "Smokey" Osborn, is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Curwensville and its surrounding areas. In 1989, the society received the historic Korb House, donated by E. Furman Korb, as its headquarters, offering a permanent home for its mission.
The Curwensville-Pike Historical Society is proud to serve the residents of the Curwensville Area School District by:
-Preserving the natural, civil, literary, commercial, economic, and ecclesiastical history that has shaped our community.
-Engaging the public with powerful historical programs and resources to inspire curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the past.
-Cultivating a more informed society to ensure future generations value and understand their local heritage.
What We Offer:
-The Korb House Museum: A hub for exploring the artifacts, stories, and history of the Curwensville area.
-Community Engagement: Events, exhibits, and programs that bring local history to life.
-Historical Preservation: Dedicated efforts to maintain and archive the stories that define Curwensville's legacy.
We rely on the generous support of our community to fulfill our mission. Whether through monetary donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, your contributions make a difference in preserving Curwensville's history.
