The Elk County Planning Department is an branch of county government that is charged with overseeing land use and development on behalf of local municipalities that have no Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). Our staff works closely with the Elk County Board of Commissioners and The Elk County Planning Commission to ensure our duties, according to the Municipal Planning Code (MPC), are fulfilled. The Planning Department is in charge of administering the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). We also administer several housing programs including accessibility modifications and home rehab. County planning department staff work closely with local municipalities to assist them whenever possible. Grant writing and plan development are two of our specialties.
