The Centre County Historical Society (CCHS), established in 1904, is the oldest and largest history organization in Centre County, Pennsylvania. As the county’s official historical society, CCHS is dedicated to preserving and promoting the area’s historic, cultural, and natural resources through engaging programs, exhibits, and collections.
CCHS is a non-profit, membership, and volunteer-driven organization that collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to celebrate and protect Centre County’s heritage. Our initiatives include:
-Educational Programs and Exhibitions: Showcasing the history and culture of the region.
-Archival and Artifact Collections: Preserving documents and objects that tell the story of Centre County.
-Publications: Providing historical insights and resources for the community.

-Centre Furnace Mansion: A beautifully preserved historic home in State College, PA, that serves as the society’s headquarters and a centerpiece for historical tours, exhibits, and events.
-Boogersburg One-Room School: A restored one-room schoolhouse offering a glimpse into the educational history of Centre County.
