Founded in 2016, Allegheny Hike, Bike, and Ski is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and maintaining hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and cross-country ski trails in the southeastern region of the Allegheny National Forest. As a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your tax-deductible donations directly support our efforts to improve outdoor recreation opportunities in the forest and surrounding communities.
We are proud to carry on the legacy of the Bootjack Snow Gliders, who previously maintained the Laurel Mill Ski Trails. In 2021, we formalized a partnership with the US Forest Service to restore and manage this trail system, which had been neglected for over a decade. Today, these trails are open for hiking and cross-country skiing, with grooming resumed to enhance the skiing experience. While bicycles are currently restricted on these trails, we are actively collaborating with the US Forest Service to expand access for mountain bikers in the future.
As a "friends of" group, we work closely with Federal, State, and local agencies to improve recreation opportunities and promote sustainable outdoor activities in the region. Our efforts aim to make the Allegheny National Forest a premier destination for hiking, biking, and skiing adventures, while fostering a deeper appreciation for its natural beauty.
