A Rich Heritage in the Northern Tier

Spanning Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, and Wyoming counties, the Northern Tier is known for its exceptional Appalachian hardwoods. Over 58% of the region’s 4,007 square miles is forest, with hardwoods making up 89% of the area. These forests produce approximately 10% of Pennsylvania’s total saw timber, supporting a thriving industry of over 115 wood-related businesses employing 3,500 individuals. Grant Opportunities
