Established in 1989, Pennsylvania’s Heritage Areas Program is a national model for preserving and promoting historical, cultural, natural, and recreational resources. Spanning 57 of 67 counties, the program connects visitors to nearly every major historical site and population center in the state. With six areas recognized as National Heritage Areas, Pennsylvania’s heritage network strengthens regional economies by attracting tourism, creating jobs, and fostering investments.
